I have instructions to go to Windows defender in order to uncheck "Automatically Scan My Computer but I don't see any such animal in Windows Defender.
Where what is a system tray?
I also have instuctions to go to the Device Manager's Advanced settings and make sure "Enable DMA is checked. Not seeing that.
I'm supposed to go to the Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller, Browse my computer and pick "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. Not seeing that exactly. I do see Intel (R) ....SATA...Controller and AHCI 1.0 Serial ATI Controller.

Re: Optimization
The System Tray is the area in the bottom right corner of your screen where you can see icons for processes that are running on your computer. If Windows Defender is running you should see an icon for it. You can also get to Defender by: Start>Programs>Windows Defender You should then be able to setup your preferences. Lastly, you can also get to Defender through Control Panel.
Not sure WHY you need to enable DMA or set properties for a PCI Controller. Your system should have already set these properties.
