Yeah... I just typed up a big long rant about a particularly demoralizing experience I had with a listing in 2019, but I decided to cool my jets and park it in Text Edit for now-- maybe I'll post it eventually. There is a lot that concretely transcends the whole "screeners are human/music is subjective" reasoning.chrishargrave wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 2:56 amCheers Ted. I'm pretty new to Taxi but this listing has been an illuminating experience that has really questioned my faith in the authenticity of Taxi's review and forward process.
It would be great if someone from Taxi jumped in to explain the reasoning behind their decisions....
I will say this much... I used to work in the industry in various jobs. One of my jobs was on a super popular TV show you've all seen-- screening talent in cattle-call style auditions. I sat with a famous producer/manager and helped him decide who made the first cut. We would take about the top 2% in terms of talent-- and also about the worst 5% in terms of being total dumpster fires-- because it was for TV entertainment. And the hardest part was dealing with the stunned reactions of the talented people who just missed the cut-- having to see some lolcow who obviously sucked eggs getting promoted onward, thinking they were legitimately talented. It was kind of a brutal ritual for all involved.
I don't know what that has to do with Taxi-- probably nothing, being that they don't gain anything from forwarding garbage the way we did on the TV show, but I thought I'd mention it all the same. I almost always have that same reaction when I go from seeing a return to checking out the forwards blog. Haha.
