Huh... with all the names tossed around, I didn't see a single reference to David Allan Coe. When you write songs in prison, I think that's the definition of outlaw songwriter.- Chris

I guess it's like leaving Jesus out of Matthew or something.

Makes me sick to think that MBA weilding wimps are ruining the music business. Long live the truly independent label Djay

Well, those "MBA weilding wimps" have their places too...afterall, it's those 'bidness brains' behind the scenes that get the music out there. But for what it's worth, I miss what country was at one time.....a lot of grit, heart and soul. A lot of music in the past has always been formulaic....but those are the tunes we often forget. It's the stuff that breaks the mold that we remember. It's just harder to get those kind of tunes out there than it used to be. MTV and all those video type visual formats killed good music too, imo. At the time, it was a good thing....but all of sudden, it became more about image than music, style over substance. But that is what the public wants now...they've gotten used to it. I miss those times when you'd listen to a tune, and it was just different from anything you'd heard.....and during the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90s, there was a lot of that stuff around.

Think that is his first song.As far as his songs go, they don't seem 'outlaw' enough for me, but that's personal preference. "Let's Get Drunk and Be Somebody" does excite me though. However, as far as bucking the system in Nashville, I would agree with you Monsieur Horace...Toby is definitely a 'bad boy'.....and Willie thinks highly of him, so that's good enough for me.

Anyone want to post the words to one of their songs if it's a cheatin', drinkin' or prison song? I'll post one of mine if you post one of yours.

Hehheh! A cheatin' song! I have one... Dysfectionately dedicated to my last ex and proudly written with the help of Mr. Molson!Roadside Trash (c)2005 Ronald G BrownYou knew I crashed and burned on Lover's Lane... You knew it wellYou knew my spirit took a beatingAnd you made promises upon promises, then you broke them allWell my words for you, they do bear repeatingChorus:You're just roadside trash... Rotten, dank and coldRoadside trash... The devil's bag of goldYou're just roadside trash... Stinkin' up my worldI feel sorry for the one who finds you...Gathers you up and decides you might be worth somethin'Verse:So you took the exit ramp off Highway Love to Cheatin'svilleAbandoned me outside that townBut as I walk this shoulder, I don't mind, I get my fillBreakin’ in my boots, kickin' around...Chorus:Roadside trash... Rotten, dank and coldRoadside trash... The devil's bag of goldYou're just roadside trash... Stinkin' up my worldI feel sorry for the one who finds you...Picks you up and decides you might be worth somethin'Bridge:It's not the package, baby, it's what's inside that countsA good coat of paint just hides the rust till it bleeds outYou hid your colors well but, honey I'm not bitter...I just can't get mad at a pile of litterChorus:You're just roadside trash... Rotten, dank and coldRoadside trash... The devil's bag of goldYou're just roadside trash... Stinkin' up my worldI feel sorry for the one who finds you...Picks you up and decides you might be worth somethin'The end...
