Pacific Rim soundtrack riff = Black Sabbath's Iron Man?

One of my piano students wants to play the theme from the Pacific Rim movie. Is it just me, or does that first riff sound a little too much like Black Sabbath's "Iron Man"?

What's even more peculiar, is that he composed for the movie, "Iron Man"

Not very similar to me.

They both contain one short melodic section where the riff slides up a down on a minor 2nd interval. Almost like a mordant or trill.

That's about the only similarity beyond the fact those both are "rock".
