Before I get too far into mixing and tweaking: After listening to this particular group of references, it seems to me that they do NOT have as much in common as most reference groupings we are used to getting. My question is: Are these references different enough to have my piece be considered as acceptable? Thanks for all your comments.

EPIC, ACTION ORCHESTRAL HYBRID INSTRUMENTALS for SPORTS CONTENT are needed by a great Music Library with lots of success in Film and TV placements.
They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references we got directly from them:
"Tacitus" by Daniel L Heath
posting.php?mode=post&f=20&sid=b5b26103 ... 702b8c2c40
"Black Angels Rise" by Mark John Petrie

"Tribal Battles" by Daniel Law Heath & Magnum Opus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-p3hVRAWgM
"Evil Reborn" by Charles Evans

Please send well-produced Orchestral Hybrid Instrumentals that create a huge, epic sound and vibe that could be used in sports-related content. Engaging motifs, solid rhythms, and plenty of unapologetic energy are a must for this request. Your arrangements should blend Orchestral instrumentation with Rock, Hip-Hop, and/or Electronic elements and be generally similar to the style of the references. Please be sure that your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use are cutting-edge and high-quality.
All submissions should be about 2 to 4 minutes long (give or take) with non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. They’ll get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022. TAXI # S220309BG

Hi, I'm afraid the production quality is not going to hit the mark. The basic idea is cool but the sounds don't reach the high bar for this kind of listings. Try to find a reference and really A/B your track to the reference. Try to emulate the different layers of that specific genre.
Good luck
Chris

It would be MOST helpful if you could tell me WHICH sounds and WHAT qualities you're referring to.melodea wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:07 amHi, I'm afraid the production quality is not going to hit the mark. Re: Road To Olympus (Epic Action Hybrid)
Hi there
First of, I think the references are poor in this listing because they don't show music in the style they requesting. Somehow IMO the first two show the more orchestral side and the third one the Rock side. A mix like they request is not shown.
Here my notes in no particular order:
- the whole Drum/Rhytm part has to have more epic components like in the first two references (Damage 1 or 2 from Heavyocity i.E.)
- the fanfares clash harmonically at the beginning line
- the strings sound dull and far away
- IMO its lacking epic transitions from one part to the other
- Try to make breaks/breathers like every 8 bars or so (+transitions)
- the synth sound that kicks in at around 0.52 sounds like it's coming from a toy keyboard from the 80ties, that takes it more away from a modern Epic Hybrid Que
- even though they didn't request a 3 Act thing I would make more distinguisable secttions with clear edit points--it all sound too much in the same place
I would go to pages like www.brandxmusic.net or www.audiomachine.com and listen to each layer of modern Trailer/Epic/Action music and compere it to your production.
That's the ticket right there!
Good luck
Chris
