Permissions needed for using child singers on recording?
Anyone have experience using a child's voice on a recording? I've got a submission coming up and we used a pre teen to record the vocals. No compensation was involved. Just wondering what type of clearance do I need. Is a signed permission to use the vocals in all mediums sufficient. Can that be signed by one parent or are both parents necessary? Any other thoughts? Thanks.

I would get a signed work for hire as you would for any hired musician or vocalist. If there was no compensation, put down $1. Have the agreement signed by the parents or legal guardians as well.

Straight from the top. Better safe than sorry.
