ping reply target writing

Post by ping » Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:53 am

Wow! Ok I could have chosen better words than crap, it was a careless moment. But I don't want to be completely misunderstood. Maybe I misunderstood Micheal, but my opposition to the industry steering us toward target writing is getting dangerously close to carbon copy songs that are never as good as the original. You know what I'm talking about, how many times have huge artists tried to repeat the first record only fail and distance themselves from the fans. Like it or not that's target writing! For business sake go ahead try it for tv, film or whatever but hit radio? I have a personal friend with a platinum record and a #2 hit who is honest enough to give me square advice.Just do what you do best and roll the dice. In case your are wondering no he cant do anything for me and I would not ask!Maybe I'll never have a hit but at least I won't be indiferent.

nah see, my point was that, no matter what you are trying to do, you are still you, getting in the same ball park isnt copying, you can still have a lot of idividual style, you just have to put a few restraints in place and then work around em, higher difficulty for expression maybe, but not in the least the end of it.
in the time of trumpets and guitars, there was an oboe
