Pleather and LaceWell, when my 4x4 hit her little HyundaiHer rear bumper melted like an ice cream sundaeI said “sorry Ma’am” and gave her my numberThen I offered to fix up her busted bumperThought she’d just call me a redneckBut that night she gave me a callSince then it’s been picnics n chick flicksAnd I don’t mind at allThat we’re pleather and lace, crudeness and graceShe’s smooth around the curves; I’m rough around the edgesI love me a cheep ceegar, she’ll sneak a Benson and HedgesShe says I’m going to heck cos I cuss like a hickShe’ll stub her toe and say “H-E-double toothpicks”But we don’t wanna change each others’ waysWe like bein’ pleather and laceNow it’s cute how my homebrew gives her the hiccupsBut not how she hides old Cher tapes in my pick-upMy hat barely fits in her small puddle jumperAnd now there’s a Skynyrd sticker on her bumperYeah, she’s good in a squeezeAnd I’m good in a pinchThough she’s got style, I go an extra mileAnd give an extra inchYeah, we’re pleather and lace, two steps n balletsShe’s a glass of champagne and I’m a shot of whiskeyShe’s boxes of Thai food take-out…I’m buckets of extra crispyShe’s peaches and cream…I’m sour cream n chivesShe’s a walk in the park and Chanel #5…I’m Jurassic Park on channel 5But we don’t wanna change each others’ waysWe like bein’ pleather and laceO we’re pleather and lace, shotguns and maceHer dancehalls have valets… mine have bouncersShe’s a velvet loveseat…I’m a duct-tape barcoloungerShe’s runnin’ laps outside and I’ve got the remote in my lapShe’s a snappy dresser and my old cowboy shirt’s got snapsBut we don’t wanna change each others’ waysWe love bein’ pleather and lace©2007 Robert George
