Policy on Submitting a Montage to a Listing...

Post by eliotpister1 » Wed Apr 20, 2011 11:45 am

Does anybody (perhaps a Taxi staffer) know what the stance is on submitting a montage for a listing that is looking for producers or writers, rather than actual "songs"? Listing #S110506AC is looking for Hot AC Producers, and I'd like to submit a 3 or 4 minute editted montage of material that fits the listing. I know that Taxi makes its money on submission fees, and would rather us submit a bunch of songs at $5 a pop. But in a case like this (which comes up from time-to-time), I think the company would rather hear snippets of a lot of material to get a sense of the variety of your work, and how prolific you are....

Is this frowned upon by Taxi? I don't want to exploit a loophole, and also don't want to be blocked by a screener where I might otherwise be forwarded.

Thanks, Eliot.

Elliot
You should contact Taxi and ask them.

My strong guess is that for THIS listing they would want individual full songs because they want to see your chops on whole songs. A sampling of 2-3 full songs for a potential producer does seem reasonable.

I could see it more likely (Don't know for sure!!) that they might except a montage if the call was for 30 second pieces. Again, you'd have to ask them.

Best of luck!
:) Casey
