Pop/Dance songs to major A&R/Label Forward anyone?

Post by barruk » Thu Dec 16, 2010 6:34 pm

Hey guys, I'm a new Taxi member, as far as I've seen the service seems to have helped many musicians/songwriters get either forwards or placements with television and music libraries, some publishing deals, and a few Country hits as exceptions. I'm curious has anybody every got a forward for a Pop/Dance or any other Top40 style song to either a major A&R, publisher or label? If so I'd love to hear about it and i hope I'm not the only one interested. I know the bar is set high for these opportunities but I'm yet to see or hear about success with this.

Thanks for your help guys.

Hey barruk,

I feel exactly the same - I've been a member for about half a year now, and I can't seem to find top40-minded people; that is, writers who are single-mindedly going for the charts, rather than "dabbling in pop now and then" (speaking of which, there seems to be a popular misconception among musicians that chart-topping material is easy to create).

I've seen incredible levels of talent as far as country writing is concerned, and the instrumentals I hear here are some of the best I've ever heard, but as far as pop songwriters go, as far as I know they are few and far between.

I'm currently waiting on about 6 or 8 pop-oriented listing results, and have a really good feeling about a couple. I'll post any forwards or returns I get in this forum (I'll try to follow up on this thread), and if you could do the same - that would be fantastic. One of the best advantages of TAXI is the ability to learn from others' successes and failures.

All the best, and good luck with your music,

Michael
