Pop forward to Columbia Records!

Post by cameroncooke » Fri Dec 19, 2008 2:00 am

Hey, folks!I just got an email saying 3 songs were forwarded for the following listing:S081202POYOUNG POP ARTISTS (age 10-20) a la Miley Cyrus, Miranda Cosgrove, Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney, Aly & AJ, The Click Five, McFly, etc. are sought after by a Major Label who is looking for fantastic artists as well as smash hit songs. While all styles will be considered, Pop/Alt Rock/Pop-R&B/Singer-Songwriter/Pop-Punk, etc. will be the most desirable genres to focus on. They'll be open to hearing bands, solo artists, duos, etc. with extraordinary vocal talent and pro studio/stage savvy and experience. They'll be looking for artists that are also songwriters, so be sure to submit originals for this one - songs need to appeal to a young "tween" audience. Male or female vocals are just fine. Songs that "pop" and have undeniable hit potential will absolutely elevate the possibilities of getting noticed here - submit demos that really show what you can do in all areas! If you have any acting or dancing experience, please FEATURE that information in your bio and don't forget to include a great Photo of yourself. If you have links to any video performances that really display your full talent, be sure to include those in your bio as well. We'll need to be very selective, so please submit your very best material! Please submit 2-3 songs online or per CD, INCLUDE PHOTO/BIO. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than December 2, 2008. TAXI #S081202POI'm stoked :-D Got an email today saying my tracks Over (Don't Stop Now), Don't, and Leave Me Alone were forwarded to Columbia Records! You can stream them at www.taxi.com/cameroncookeI'm a newer member and have just had one forward from the 6 listings I've applied to so far and nothing has come of that yet but I'm just grateful to have my material passed on to a major label- I would love any and all criticisms or comments on the material from y'all as well :-DHope everybody is having a great holiday

Nicely done and congrats!! And..please remove the name of the company. We have a policy that we never write the name of the company because there are some people that uses this to send unsolicited material direct to the company. CONGRATS again!!

We have a policy that we never write the name of the company because there are some people that uses this to send unsolicited material direct to the company. Just a quick clarification. The "no names" policy is a courtesy for small companies... music libraries or publishers with only a handful of employees where one or two people calling constantly could cause problems. Posting major label names, TV shows, film titles, etc, perfectly acceptable because there's no way for a handful of troublemakers to even get through to them. They already get tens of thousands of phone calls each day (literally) and "problem children" are simply ignored. Anyway, congratulations on a VERY high-bar listing and you should be REALLY stoked just to get your music introduced. Of course Columbia gets tons of music from many sources but still, if your music is at that level to get a forward to Columbia, you're got a great future somewhere. Good stuff,Dave
