OK, I now get the diamond line. But if the singer you have is not doing justice to your tune, you should find one who will.Ott

Re: Pop/Rock American Idol Listing
So you think it will work now or ya still a little weary of it?I know, I can't though. The deadline is tomorrow and I dont know any great female singers with an attitudey rock voice. It sucks.I just find it hard to believe so much depends on the voice. If they want the voice to be so perfect, why are they giving it to another singer....why dont they just sign the singer on my demo? When Ryan Tedder wrote Bleeding Love for Leona Lewis, I find it hard to believe he went looking for a great female singer to record it? If I was a producer looking for a hit, I wouldnt care if a monkey was singing it, as long as it was a great song.Cheers,Colm.

Hi Colm, Now-a-days they're very fussy, especially Taxi. I think not having a female vocal will really hurt your chances. I'm glad you went ahead and posted the lyrics. I would have commented on them before if they were posted. The lyric would absolutely need to be changed for a girl to sing this. That listing is positively for a FEMALE vocalist. I don't think you stand a chance at all for this listing. IMHO

Do you mean, my lyrics will need to changed for the song to suit a girl? Or do you mean I definitely need a female vocal to stand a chance? If I got a female on it, how do you think my chances would be then?Cheers,Colm.

Re: Pop/Rock American Idol Listing
Colm: Here's a little "heads up". A week ago, I was perusing USA today, where every Tuesday they list the top songs in different genres. This time. they had a section on all the albums that were coming out in Setember, October, and November. There had to be around a hundred albums, and these were the creme de la creme of the music inustry. Keep in mind that each album probably had at least ten cuts on it. Keep further in mind that for each cut, there were at least 100 cuts that were rejected, unless the songs were written by the artists. Do the math. Any artist who'll consider an outside song is not going to bother with a female song sung by a male. They won't bother; there's too many songwriters who took the trouble to have a female record the song. As far as deadlines -- you'll find that Taxi listings repeat themselves, and repeat themselves, and repeat themselves . . . There is really no deadline for your songs. Don't shortchange yourself by thinking it's so. And if you don't know a singer to your taste, go find one i the local bars.Ott

I guess I just always thought that no manager, label or producer would ever care where the songwriter was from, what age they were, whether they were male of female, how much or little effort they put in, or who was singing their song. All they care about is how good the song is and whether or not it suits they're artist? Guess I'm wrong.Back to the drawing board so. Colm.

Re: Pop/Rock American Idol Listing
Hey guys,So after I called TAXI and got dealt the bad news about needing a female vocal I managed to persuade my friend to sing. She had never heard the song before and we did it in about an hour. I think it sounds quite weak and doesnt represent Kelly Clarksons style very much at all.How and ever, I submitted both my version and hers so we'll see what happens.Any comments on the new song are welcome. Id be interested to hear if anyone thinks her version has a better chance than my original vocal?Cheers,Colm.

Colm: "Sounds weak"? You're not going to get a lot of moral support on this forum if you slam the people you work with. And yeah, she sounded better than you.Ott

I didnt mean to come across arrogant. In my opinion, the vocal is weak, I think mine is horrible too, but I dont believe in masking your true opinion for the sake of "moral support". Im not looking for moral support, I'm looking for candid criticism.Sorry if I came across the wrong way, I was just looking for honest opinions.Colm.

Re: Pop/Rock American Idol Listing
Sounds much better with the female vocal. The song has a bit of an 80's feel to it. With a little more time you could get this sounding really hot. Like Ott said, there will be a lot of opportunities to pitch this song so I wouldn't worry about one deadline. If it were me, I'd take the time to find the right demo singer for the song and take some time mixing and experimenting with effects etc. to get a great sounding product. Just my opinion. At least by submitting this song both ways as you did, you should get some useful feedback. Not a bad deal for $10.00.Buc
