Possible new deal - question

Post by TheWag » Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:49 pm

Is this normal? One of my songs was forwarded and the company emailed me and said this:

If you signed with CDBABY Pro/publishing or Tune Core publishing, then we can't work your music until you get out of
these deals. You have to own your music to sign with us, or have your
producers, writers, all sign the agreement.

If you are a writer with BMI, you must contact BMI and let them know that
"... Music2" is now the publisher for the songs you send us.

If you are with ASCAP, you must contact ASCAP and let them know that
"...Music2" is the publisher of the songs you send us.

If you are a writer with SESAC, you must contact SESAC and let them know that
"...Music3" is the publisher for the songs you send us.

If you are with any other PRO, just list it on the spreadsheet.

Fill out the spreadsheet attached. Very important that you fill this out
correctly. Or you won't get paid. Make sure you send it back as an "excel" file
"ONLY". Please get some one to fill this out if you can't.

Send the signed scanned agreement, album covers and lyrics if you have
them, songs in wave form, and spreadsheet "ALTOGETHER" at once. Not multiple emails or
attachments.

My contract is a 50/50 split. I have sub publishers. (Germany,
Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey, France, U K,) In these countries they
work for us. I'm always actively find partners in other countries. I can
push all of your high quality mixed tunes... I have connections in many
different countries as well as connections here in the states. The more
places your song is in the chances are higher of getting placements.
That's where I come in. There is "No Guarantee" that your songs will be
placed, but I along with my sub publishers will work really hard pushing
your wonderful songs. Remember the more tunes you have the greater the
chances! I can push all of your finished high quality tunes like this one!
Agreement is attached. We don't alter our agreements due to in being in
concert with our partner companies. If you agree send all of your tunes
like this and instrumentals! We need instrumental to any track with
vocals. Very important!

Hi,

YES.... This is standard for many libraries.
Many libraries CANNOT accept a song if it is signed with CD Baby/Tunecore.

What they are saying is... if any of the tracks you sent to the library ARE ALREADY REGISTERED with a PRO, you need to change the registration to make M**** the publisher.

But USUALLY, if the tracks are not registered with a PRO, M***** will use the info from the spreadsheet to register the tracks with your PRO.

You may also want to remove the name of the publisher from your post...

My 3 cents worth,
Tim
