Hey Matt, you probably meant to post this in "peer" . . . I think the vocals and the snare drum need to come out more and the kick needs either less volume/low-end or it's a global eq situation that's making it louder than everything. Probably if you could get the vocals & snare where they need to be, the kick would be ok but it's hard to say. Get it over into peer where you'll get more feedback.

I agree with billg that the voice could even come up a little more, if you can believe it!My other suggestion is the EQ on the chorus. The drums switch over to either a ride cymbal or an open hi-hat (can't really tell), and there's too much "sizzle" on the high end, like about 15k or so. It doesn't quite blend with the EQ of the rest of the track. And you might want to turn the bass guitar up a bit. But I'm listening on a laptop through Bose headphones, which aren't exactly flat! I'll check out the mix again at my studio later.Great work!Ern

Hey Matt,I just listened again through my studio monitors, and I DOES sound really good! Maybe 1-2 db more on the lead vocal, but it's close enough for rock 'n' --- er, I mean country! That "ride" cymbal in the chorus still sounds weird to me, though. It's almost like it's phase-shifting or flanged or something. Or it could be the EQ like I mentioned before. As Bill said about the kick drum, I think the problem with it and the bass is that they're competing for approximately the same frequencies. Pick one or the other (I'd work on the bass first) by EQing in a little more "attack" at about 400-800 hz. That would make the notes stand out more with better definition.Of course, this is being really picky, but "Picky" is my middle name! This is getting REAL close!Best Regards,Ern

Yep, that's a good 'un. I agree with the suggestions above. I think the vox need to come up a bit more, and there's too much happening down low. It's distracting. I've had good luck carving a bit off the bass below 100hz to let the kick have that. I can't hear anything around 15k, so go with Ern on that one. (well, go with Ern on all of it--this is JMHO)

I didn't believe it when Linzi reported a similar problem, but that sounds seriously distorted, not sure what's going on, doesn't sound like the typical intersample peaks/MP3 conversion problem, and I'm guessing others aren't hearing it, based on the comments above. Weird thing is it's only on certain instruments/frequencies with some nasty wow and flutter thrown in for good measure. More so in the louder parts, it started to go away during the fade. Anybody else hearing this?

Great suggestions.I havent really gotten serious about the eq yet. Time to get the knives and start carving I guess. You guys have better ears than me. I dont register highs very well. Too many years of distorted guitars and lousy stage feedback.Im going to implement yalls ideas. Thanks for helping out.M~
