I wouldn't rely on the time stamping to be reliably preserved with compressing. I recommend starting all tracks at time zero.You can zip wav files just like you can zip aiff files, it makes no difference. Actually wav files zip down nicely. I recently zipped a 200MB stereo wav file down to around 90 MB. I don't know if the time stamping was preserved, I wasn't using it.With Broadcast WAV files, I believe you can input metadata which you could edit and put the exact time stamp on. But you have to rely on your clients to do that too and I wouldn't expect them to do it. Bouncing the tracks from time zero is the absolutely most reliable way to do it unless you have the same DAW the person on the other end is using (even then..........).For overdubs, see what the other remote overdub folks are doing. An mp3 would be fine, IMO.good luck,Mazz

I simply use my ftp-server. my homepage is also hosted there, the whole thing cost's less than $ 5 per month and you've got plenty of ftp-users you can create, as well as 10 gb space.

I spent lots of time with YouSendIt and may others until I finally caved in and bought a hosted website from GoDaddy.com. I think it costs me around $50/year including the domain name, with 10G of storage and 100G of bandwidth per month (going off the top of my head). There's lots of other hosting providers out there too in the same range.The downside is you'll have learn to do all the setup (webpages, ftp users, upload pages etc.) yourself or find somebody to do it for you. There's a lot of open source apps that might help (Content Management Systems come to mind as something that might fit well here). The upside is you have your own website which you can do basically whatever you want with, have your own email addresses, etc.

Pando (www.pando.com) is also a great service and it's free. You can send up to 1GB with the free version with no file limit. But the person you're sending the files to has to have Pando installed as well.Have a great day,Felix

Receiving tracks to mix is the application that most interests me. A central one-stop sort of solution appeals more than a half dozen different sites. 20 Gigs seems like it'd be plenty, though.
