Mac files and folders

Post by elser » Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:35 pm

I have some plugin demo's which are expired. I've trashed the applications but the plugins still show up in Logics and Garage Bands AU authorizer and occasionally ask to be authorized. Any body know where I go to get rid of these pesky little buggers?Thankee, Elser

Yup, get AppZapper. First, you'll want to re-install the pluggys so Zapper can find them and the associated files. Then it'll find everything and get rid of it.Also, I recommend Forklift which very good. It's a, dual pane file browser with an application remover and FTP file transfer feature. Both of these are less than 30 bucks and I think the demos for both of these would actually suffice for doing what you want if you don't want buy them....Otherwise, happy manually hunting. Either way, I think you'll have re-install.

Go toLibrary/Audio/Plug-insInside there you'll see a folder named Components. That's were the AU plug-ins reside. There's another folder called VST. Obviously, the VST plug-ins are there.I think you could just trash or move the ones you don't want. You might have a library under the main hard drive and also under your user name (if you set that up). If so, look in both.HTH,Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Yep.After that, you may have to/want to trash each of those program's preferences. I don't know exactly how Logic and GB evaluate/load... plug-ins, but the programs may still look for the plug-ins on load up.z

I tried to manually remove Dragster and I am stuck with the Dragster links and options being stuck in my fly out boxes and toobars. I'll have to re-install and then use the uninstaller software to completely get rid of it. Of course, there's always the optional 'hunt and peck' method.
