Vocal Plug Ins
Alright, i've got my macbook now and im getting used to Logic Express, and i'll start tracking for all of my projects in June. I've got an extremely full plate though with all of the stuff I have lined up and the things I need to finish from earlier in the year, so a huge help would be a vocal harmony plug in. Can anyone refer me to any good ones that will work with LE? Also, any other plug ins that might help me out? I record onto a Tascam DP01, get everything lined up and sounding good on there, then dump those tracks into LE.

Re: Vocal Plug Ins
There are three big boys on the block when it comes to vocal harmony plug ins that you would do well to take a look at. Not knowing what your budget it, I'm just going to layout a summary of them all.The grand daddy of course is Antares Auto Tune which has a TDM bundle that's a bit pricey called AVOX.Celemony Melodyne has a couple different versions. If you are budget conscious then the Uno might be something worth looking at. It's priced reasonably but if you can afford it, go with the Cre8.Lastly is Serato Pitch and Time which also comes in a couple of versions and, yes, is also pricey. There are a couple more getting into the game like Waves, TC, and Soundtoys. May want to see if there's a demo for all of these.Hope that helps.God bless.

T C Helicon has some boxes with tools to make your electronically generated harmonies sound more like a choir than one stacked voice, e.g. gender controls, etc. Effective, but kinda spendy...

I find the TC stuff to be ok as well as the waves harmony.I tend not to use them that much though as there is no substitute for real harmonies especially when it comes to vocals. I also find it ends up being quicker and sounds better

on all three however, you have to be able to sing close, if you miss a note by a less than small margin, redo the section, or punch in the line, because the grain and the artifacts plus the voice sounds progressively less natural the bigger the correction making it glaringly obvious that its pitch corrected.

Re: Vocal Plug Ins
not really, multiple instances verse singular instance, some people use harmony for pitch correction, some use pitch correction for harmonies, and even with harmonization, if some of your vocals are have a wide harmony, you have to track under them for the farthest ones for the exact same reason

Re: Vocal Plug Ins
Not sure what you mean by 'wide harmony' milf. I take it you mean a two notes or more which have a greater degree more than a Fifth? What do you mean by 'track under them for the farthest ones? Also I think there is a big difference in a Harmonizer Plug-in and Pitch Correction. The name itself explains it; pitch correction is used as a transparent plug-in to keep the vocal in tune, unless your Cher and your using it for effect, even that wasn't harmonization. A harmonizer plug-in adds a second voice or more either enharmonic or other. A harmonizer plug-in set enharmonically won't automatically correct the vocal it will only cause possible phasing effects or the sense it's been double tracked. In which case you might as well double track!

Re: Vocal Plug Ins
nah just a general term for the note range, and a track under them, meaning in pitch either higher or lower, kind of a real harmony to build the other harmonies off of, to shorten the gap in pitch. I am aware of plug in names and effects, but stacking harmonics can help pull a note so it sounds in pitch, its a technique thats been around as long as tape, and people pitch correct there harmonies all the time to get perfect harmonics. I wasn't saying they are the same thing, I was saying they are closely related, both being semi-corrective pitch changing effects that are generally used in tandem with each other, so it bears mentioning both. See both serve the same function of strengthening harmonics, one through precision, one through addition, so they go in the same pile for me.*corrected for typos*
