I wish it had a nice A/D option. If you get one of these, you need a nice A/D to get it back in to the computer. Still a great idea! I bet it sounds awesome and huge and deep.Mazz

Ya, as I've been researching my interface issue I've gone from looking at the Presonus, M-Audio stuff to thinking, "as long as I'm gonna do this, I might as well get something good", so now I'm seriously considering Apogee.

The good thing about Apogee (actually one of the many good things!) is their clocking, which is top notch, and for digital, excellent clock is the key to clarity, particularly on the high end. If you got an Apogee interface, you could use it as a master clock for other digital stuff that you get afterwards. RME has a reputation for excellent clocking as well. Two channels of Apogee would be a better investment than 8 channels of Presonus if you don't need all the channels at once. You'd still need MIDI but just get a little USB keyboard that fits in a backpack.Go for it!! (I love spending other people's money! )Mazz

One of my rules of thumb is ye shalt never buy gear whut don't have word clock input, I wanna be sure I'm ready when it's time to upgrade to an external clocking system.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine sold me a Lucid master clock and it really made a big difference. That and a nice DAC and I gave my old speakers a new lease on life, they never sounded better. Really, it makes a difference, IMO.Mazz

I'm still summing with a 24 X 4 Mackie. Even using the mic pres. Sucks. I need some Apogees, I need some decent pre-amps. Geez Louise, I need a lot of new gear. Honey (he says sheepishly calling upstairs), how's our savings account doing? Do you think me quitting smoking will save us enough coin so that I can spend 20K on gear? And do you think I could start hiring some real musicians instead of pretending I know how to play guitar, bass & drums? Oh, the cold shoulder, looks like the couch for me again...
