mobile audio/midi interface

Anyone know of a good USB2 or Firewire mobile interface with at least 1 line input, 1 guitar input, 6 line outs and midi I/O?

I've used the M-audio FW 410 off and on, it fits what you are looking for. Their mixer interface is a bit confusing to me but the hardware seems to work fine. I think the PreSonus stuff is pretty popular and might be better made, I don't have any experience with it.good luck!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I use a Focusrite Saffire as my i/o (firewire, 2 ins, 8 outs, midi, spdif, foldback reverb and 2 headphone outs). It will run off the firewire connection if your computer is 6 pin (laptops sometimes are 4 pin, i.e. not powered), also comes with a power brick. Generally I'm very happy with it. J.J.

Thanks Mazz, thanks J.J. Now I'm thinking about spending money I don't have and buying a RME Fireface 400. My AD/DA at home is 12 years old and definitely due for an upgrade so the Fireface would allow me to solve that problem and give me a mobile solution.I'm putting together a performing rig based on Apple's Mainstage and a new Macbook Pro 2.4 with 4GB of RAM. I'm really concerned about stability. So has anyone used the Fireface with OSX 10.5.4? Or has anyone used the Fireface 400 at all? Obviously I don't want to have to worry about system problems while performing. Thanks, Elser

RECEPTOR Extremely reliable rack mount tool designed specifically to house all the same sound samples, that your studio DAW accesses. Apparently a helluva lot more stable than a laptop, and much faster patch loading times. Just a thought.... Check out who else is using them as well: Artist Testimonials

Thanks Steve, that is definitely an instrument whose time has come. Unfortunately my check book hasn't caught up with it yet.

Just bite the bullet; it wasn't that long ago that any decent pro keyboard, much less a complete rig, was well north of $3k. Anything you gig with must be rock-solid reliable. IMO, Steve knows what he be talkin' 'bout.
