Kontakt 3 and Sonar 6 PE

Post by kurtkreimier » Wed Jul 23, 2008 1:34 am

Hello All,Has anybody else had problems running Kontakt 3 in Sonar 6 Producer Edition? It seems that sometimes it works fine and other times instruments won't play or they play out of tune. I am running Kontakt as a VST and I notice in the VST Plug in menu I am getting 3 options (Kontakt 3 - Kontakt 3 16out - Kontakt 3 8out) and I am wondering if there is something here I am missing. I am usually using the first option, Kontakt 3. I do notice that when I am using the standalone player it seems to work fine but I really need it to work better in Sonar 6.Any suggestions would be apprecitated. Thanks,Kurt

Kurt,I'm using Kontakt 3 in Sonar 7.02 with no problems. When I first got Kontakt 3 it was virtually unusable. (this seems to be typical of new releases from NI) The next update solved all the issues.Have you made sure that you have the latest updates available at NI's site, I've gotten in the habit of checking there periodically. They frequently post some minor update with no communication to you as a customer.Chuck

Hey Kurt! That's a GOOD suggestion by Chuck (check for latest updates). I'd do that for sure. Ya' never know with these things. I run Kontakt 3 in Sonar 5 Producer Edition. No such problems. I have the same choices as you do, so I don't think that's the problem. Perhaps exiting & re-opening again (you've probably already tried that a number of times, I'm sure). Open a new project and load Kontakt 3 and see what happens. Perhaps there's something you have set in Kontakt 3 that shouldn't be. That'll take some foolin' around though, ta' find out. Check or uncheck something, change a setting possibly (I'm just goin' by memory here right now). Basically, when things like that happen ta' me, I fool around with it, and 9 times outta' 10, I can usually locate the culprit. Amazingly, sometimes things seem ta' change on their own, and I hafta' reset something. So all I can suggest is ta' keep a real sharp open eye, and you'll probably discover something just needs ta' be reset or adjusted, etc... I know it's a pain, but that's how I troubleshoot. Hope ya' can work it out.I-468

Thanks Chuck and Ibanez!I did go out and download and install the latest update 3.0.2 but still having some problems. Now when the program comes up it is still referencing as 3.1 but with a later release date? For this particular project I am just using a single instrument from Kontakt (Steel Drums) and when I first load Kontakt 3 it is working fine but then when I save the file and go to bring it up again it comes up with the tuning knob slid down to -35.01 and even after adjusting the tuning it won't play, except a few lower register notes. However, if I go ahead and remove the Kontakt plug in and then re-load it works ok again, which is better than it was doing before. I guess I'll keep working on it and start getting the folks at NI involved if I can't make more headway soon. Thanks Again,Kurt
