I've been using the Sony MDR 7506 and like them. I think if you're someone (like me) with a lot of hearing loss from years of playing live, what everyone perceives as a "hyped" top end with these headphones can actually be a good thing. I think it helps to compensate for the temptation of boosting at the top.

And they were on sale at Musician's Friend for $199. How come great deals always cost money, anyway?...Nice deal! I think mine were closer to $300 when I bought them. Worth every penny at even at that price.

Hmm, - what happened to the Sennheiser FanClub?? Well, I'll stick up for them! I still like my Sennheiser HD 265 Linear, although I must say, I find them a little slow in the low end... - well, I've had them a long time, so maybe they're just getting old.I recently also bought a pair of the Audio Technica ATHM40fs, just to find out if there was anything to the hype... hehe! Strangely enough I went the next few days shifting my views back and forth between thinking they were great, to thinking they were useless for anything else than tracking...The low-end is brilliant and fast, but ... - there's something strange in the lower mids that make vocal sound very boxy and hollow -. (to my ears, anyways)... - so... - I thought they might need burn-in or something, but, - still the same.Well, it all ended up in me getting very tired of headphones, so - the last few weeks I feel like I'm through with using headphones at all!!! I love my Studer monitors, though, so, they'll do for now...But then again...(: enter never ending loop here)- until next timefrodoMay 6, 2008, 12:37pm, marcblack30 wrote:Hey Mark, I bought the Audio Technica ATHM40fs (I think that's the correct model, I'll double check when I get home) and I love them. They are only my second pair I've ever owned so I don’t have a lot of experience with headphones. They are very comfortable and isolated, if my wife ever yells at me I just put them on and it's like she's not even there! j/k! The sound is very flat with an extended freq response. Both sides swivel which is a little annoying for me, I just taped one side so that only one side will swivel.Samedaymusic.com has them for $70 with free shippingMarc

I am happy with what i have, they work well for me.Someone should make headphone modeling software like the guitar pods or guitar rig, only with headphones, ha!

It's almost strange no-one have done it already?Should think that with todays convolution technology this would be within reach... - it would maybe be a little hard to find where to place the mic when recording an impulse through the head-set, still, - even an approximation would be useful, I think. - until next timefrodo

I don't know if you all followed the other thread about headphones - well - come to think of it, it was more a complain-thread, - anyways - useful information surfaced:The screeners at Taxi use Sony MDR-XD100 headphones. So - if you want to get a forward, I guess it better sound good on those!Hehe! You might want to consider buying a pair, they're like $18 or lower... not more than three-and-a-half submission, probably well worth the price! - until next timefrodo

Sony MDR 7506s for me-I use 'em to check stereo imaging and distortion detection. If you just need cheap and rugged cans for tracking, and who doesn't?http://www.itrstudio.com/moreme.htmlActually, I think I snagged the link from the Taxi boards a year or two ago....

Yeah, I've got a couple pairs of those MoreMe cans... they don't sound that great, but they're practically disposable. Great for the kids or young bands that are hard on stuff.
