Calling All Bass Players!

Anyone know anything about the Eastwood Club Basshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhNu9lS9feA&feature=relatedI've been digging using my hollwbodies lately for recording and I've got a serious jones for this bass. It's pretty hard to find out much about them but for about $450 it looks pretty interesting.

Geez, I guess I'm the only bassplayer that always wanted (but couldn't afford) one of those original Hofner Club Basses.

Sorry Bill, I didn't hear the phone ring.I think you should get one, that's what I think.I think I'd like to have one too.I have never heard of Eastwood but it looks and sound really nice.Have you ever played a Danelectro? If so, do you like?They seem pretty affordable and a decent sound, I played one years ago, I wasn't into it at the time.

These folks are all well aware of Hofners too...Rickenbacker fans are always Beatles fans too. I should know... Damn, Thanks Mark! This helps a lot. I always wanted one of those Hofners but a a little over 2k it wasn't going to ever happen.Hey marcbalck, I had an original danelectro years ago. Wish I had kept it cause it would be worth a fortune now. The one I had I bought used & it wasn't really a great player.

Sounds like a really nice bass from the video billg, but I'm totally unfamiliar with them. I have yet ta' own a hollowbody.I-468

There's also the Icon series Hofner, very affordable, but given the price, I expect the quality's dodgy, at best:http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?q=hofner&st=I used to own an original 'Beatle' bass, they're annoyingly neck-heavy and the intonation is hit-or-miss. (great tone, though) I haven't encountered the Eastwood beast of which you speak, but I can tell you the company's guitars are well-respected and generally found only in the 'better' shops, fwiw.

Hey mojobone, I've heard mixed things about the Hofner Icon. In fact, I have heard people that have both say that the Rogue copy ($200) is actually better! Hard to believe.That's good to hear about the Eastwood line in gerneral. Before I ran into this bass I had never even heard of them. I plan on springing for one of the Club basses as soon as I sell my Ibanez hollowbody.

hi...Ms. Un-positive here....I don't think you get much of a low end for live playing out of any of these similar basses (our idea of low-end has changed quite a bit since the Beatles)...the sound can be very one-dimensional as well, .....but then I don't know enough about your style...with a pick this basses sound like a banjo to me....with flat wounds and finger playing could possibly work....Also they tend to be unbalanced, so you end up holding the bass and trying to play it at the same time...I have 2 Pedullas, an F bass, and a Guild hollow body that I swear by...just letting you know where I'm coming from...vtbpshould I even post this...sorry to come across a little snob-ish...

Hey Vicky, I don't have any problem with enough low end from the hollowbodies that I use (Epiphone Rivoli, a newer Ibanez) in fact, i usually have to roll a lot off because they get to daggone boomy. most of the time I use fenders, i have a couple of P basses, a vintage 64 Jazz, and a few modified "franken-fenders'. I use roundwounds on the fenders but always flats on the hollowbodies. And you're right, the sound of a hollowbody with flats is VERY one-demensional, not a good thing if it's your only axe & you're playing a lot of different styles. I really like that sound though for the stuff I'm recording, it's just nice, mellow, & "woody". sounding & I just can't get that with the solids.
