Anyone using Nuendo 3?

Post by Pinkstar » Sat May 17, 2008 8:32 am

I haven't been able to flawlessly work on music for over a month. It's so frustrating. I finally switched my recording set-up. I now have an HP Laptop, (250G) run Vista, Nuendo 3 and use the Toneport UX2. I purchased MUSE by Sonivox, (which started the whole thing). I installed it and it worked fine, after the Sonivox guy told me to upate my current version (which I did with him on the phone) Nuendo crashes on me every time I want to load a Muse Instrument.I deleted MUSE and did a brand new install (the original version) and now it still does the same thing.Any suggestions? I posted the whole scenerio on the Steinberg Forum but no replies as of yet. You can read the details below.http://www.nuendo.com/phpbb2/viewtopic. ... 8f55Thanks so much!!!XOXOXOJVB

Hmm that's strange...so the original version of Muse which used to work is now not working anymore? Are you sure it was completely uninstalled including removing the ddl from the Vst Plugins folder?

Hey JVB...im really sorry for the b/s you are having to go through.hmm. Matto may have something about the fully uninstallingif the .dll files are still hidden somewhere on your computer, itcould really mess things up with the new installation of the program. I am sure someone there has knowledge of anotherhaving the same problem, i hope they post you back soon!

Thank you guys! I actually went over to a friend of mine who ripped Vista out and put XP back in. I've been hearing nightmares about Vista. Guess what? Update still doesn't work, but this time I say screw it, I'll use the version I have. Now I got a new issue....hahahahaha, I feel like an engineer/geek lately. I now have my HP Laptop, Windows XP, Nuendo 3 and the Toneport UX2.My songs are running off my USB drive, which I've used before with my old system and had no problems with it. When I play back my songs from the USB drive, the Performance window shows me the disk is running overload (not the CPU). I set the buffer pretty high and it still studders.Any suggestions? Maybe something silly I forgot to do? arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This is a strange problem.First of all, did you install MUSE onto the USB drive? That would be a mistake because your samples won't stream fast enough and that would explain the disk overload. Sample libraries should be installed to a fast disk, and USB 2 doesn't quite cut it. Also if you can get it onto a drive that's not your system drive and not your project drive with your songs, that is better also. But the problem sounds like something else.If your interface has its own drivers, don't use the ASIO full duplex driver. Under the "devices" menu in Nuendo, go to the audio vst settings and make sure you use the ASIO driver for your interface and not the full duplex driver. This is a global setting that will be the same for every project until you change it again.Do a full uninstall of MUSE and then go look in your plugins folder (probably C:ProgramFiles/Steinberg/VSTPlugins) and delete anything that looks like it's related to MUSE. Then start over and test your system without MUSE. If it still doesn't work, re-install Nuendo. This probably is not a Nuendo problem. Sonivox should have tested stability on all common DAW's and if they tell you they did then it might be some quirk of your system that they didn't test for.Does the standalone run properly when you update MUSE?
