Ibanez, I missed the shot with the lava lamp? P.S. Back to the thread title...I'm using Paradigm Atom-5's for nearfield, AKG 271 & AKG 240 for headphones, and a wall of home-made "not-quite-junk" speakers for mixing.
Earplugs may be required for anyone over the age of cool.

Sammick should have had a westerner advise with the naming of their products I got these puppies before any pro magizine, or online site hasreviewed them. They were not expensive since i bought themhere in Koreahere's the link for specs. http://www.infra-sonic.com/page/blow5.htmlAs they are my first monitors, I am not sure how they rate toothers of its class and size..but i dig them allot...the salesmantold me they were better for "classical" mixing, just curious to see if any of you have heard tell of them?and i invite y'all to tell me about your monitors, i would love toknow what you mix yur stuff on, as im a sucker for audio tech nerdyness!nah they look like a nice set man, dont worry about the lower benchmarks, ive heard em and they arent lacking, see most of those spec sheets are subjective, theres no standards for the tests so they can use an accoustic room or other shady stuff to basicly get whatever they want for specs, swhy you should always test listen before, you can get some good tunage out of em, if you are a geek and use a meter you can even chart the response and just get a rack eq, and permanently counter the freq to make it flat, well as flat as the room allows, they have good drivers in the cones and good articulation, so you are pretty much set, that and they look pretty sexy, that always gets bonus points
in the time of trumpets and guitars, there was an oboe

Mazz, you still got yours? --- Auratones were, I think, a single 5" speaker used to compare mixes for TV, especially the midrange.HEY! Come to think of it, I have a pair of Bose 141s in the garage which I think have a single driver in them. They actually sound pretty good when you turn up the bass and treble on your preamp a bit! --- Hmmm --- They're going to the studio TODAY! Ern

Just did a little research on Auratones, and found an explanation of why they work so well, like the Yamaha NS-10Ms which I always reference to. Well, I found these babies:http://www.dacs-audio.com/Distribution/ ... in.htmSame concept --- midrange, midrange, midrange!Ern

They seem out of place with all this other shiny gear..." I think they were brown, right? Hard to remember some of those years though....Yup, there are some on eBay. Most had brown wood cabinets.Ern
