Without impugning your enterprise, Eric, as moderator I kinda have to take a dim view of this kind of post. It's not fair to let only one person advertise their services here.More importantly, as a fellow musician whose skills include arranging and playing EWI, I take an even dimmer view of your doing horn arrangements and playing for only $200 a tune! That just ruins it for all of us.

I thought these types of advertisements were against forum rules.

My apologies if I am breaking the forum rules. I'm sure the mods will delete a post if it doesn't fit the guidelines. I'm fine with that.As far as "undercutting" goes, how much should I charge? Why is $200 a song "undercutting"? I never intended to undercut anyone. I've worked for less, I've worked for more. Eb

Eb-Your post is in conflict with this forum's rules:Quote:6. Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on these boards and will be removed. However, others' service advertisements here have been received with open arms. My hope is that the forum moderators will either take on a more consistent stance about this policy, or, better yet, create a section just for advertising...there are plenty of people here who could benefit from such a resource, including both providers and seekers of music-related services. As for your prices, whom do you wish to please most...your clients, your competition, or your family's bellies? Maybe this is more appropriate in the "Shameless Self Promotion" section?

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Re: Horns "R Us- New service
Here's what I think. Eb your new here, and 2 out your 3 first posts are about getting members to pay for your services. Your other post says you discontinued your Taxi membership. Some members think it's Ok to solicit buyers, and sometimes we don't jump all over them because they have some clout/tenure. Usually they also have relationships here, with board members that can vouch for their honesty and skills.$200 for a 5 part horn section sounds like a great price. The time it takes me to program a realistic section is much better spent on other things, so when I need real horns, I may call you. I had a look at your site, and I gotta say, it looks really pro, and the samples of your (and friends' work) are top notch. But I'd expect that from Bay Area cats, because of TOP.Most of the people on here are do-it-yourselfers, because the investment in real players seems too steep when they already have all these great sounds sitting in their hard drives. As far as the issue of undercutting goes, I have no problem with that. I've lost out on lots of sessions because I wanted too much money. And I've gotten other gigs because I was cheaper too. The market dictates the price. Best of luck with your new service.

As Herr Admin, I'M THE DECIDER. I don't want to delete the post, but if Eb knows what he's doing it's even worse. The market dictates the price, but minimum wage in the U.S. is what, $8/hr? That's for unskilled labor, not for crafts that take years to develop.
