Quote:Doing some research on condenser mic's I came across Antares Mic Modeller. Any good?opinions will vary here...my opinion: have a straight recording-chain worked best for me: good sounding room (!!! this is often not the case in home studios, so a little bit investment in your acoustics is often way better then some plugins), one mic (the standard positioning, about 1 1/2 feet away from the 12th fret), a good sounding acoustic guitar and a decent player.this delivers a good basic track. in mixing I compress, eq a little where needed and add a little bit of reverb. less is sometimes more, imho.hth, martin

Thanks Martin. It's getting that "good basic track" down that's proving the obstacle. It would seem the problem lies in my mic placement, and the particular mic, and all the advice I've had has been a great help.I've been working on a new song for three weeks, and just can't get past that acoustic track. It's really the first one I've worked on where the acoustic rhythm is a predominent part of the song. The lead in is solely with that rhythm guitar which makes it even worse! Many thanks.

Heya D,Yeah I've been trying to record my acoustic for awhile with no luck - also looks like I'm gonna have to invest in a condensor mic... the Rode Nt2a doesn't look too bad and aint too badly priced either....Take CareB

Yep, about the same price as the 012.We'll have to compare notes when we've tried them.Cheers,Dave.

ok this is gonna sound so easy, that you might get insulted, but 90% of the time I see assistants mic a guitar they dont do it, and it makes a freaking WORLD of difference, what ya want, is to have the guitar playing a note, and move the mic on an axis around the guitar to find the tonal quality you want, like kind of the color of the tones.THEN what you want to do is move it at that exact angle near and far until you hear your lows and highs and mids all come in strong and harmoniously, you will just feel that its right when you hit the spot, and that is the exact right spot for your guitar, itll be twice as easy to mix from good dynamics, and you will allready have your coloration from the placement, sometimes with this technique you can just record, level, and then be done because the shape is how you want it, and the signal is as strong as possible, dont tell anyone i told you tho, or some engineering ninjas will hunt me down and kill me, so shhh

Yeah, plug in xlr cable to the receiving end of the microphone, and then the other end to your recording system... be sure not to try and plug in the xlr cable into a normal jeck and things should be peachy.oh yeah.íå áðîñàòü! ìèêðîôîíTake CareB
