Reason 4

Post by lucas » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:37 am

Hi!I was wondering whether it is worth my while to upgrade from Reason 3 to version 4. Does anybody have any ideas about this. How much would one gain from an upgrade? I have one problem with Reason 3 and that is that there doesn't seem to be a way to use VST instruments. The other problem is the fact that I somehow cannot get the display to show me the recording time in mins:sec format. This is a problem as I often have to do jingles that require accurate length measurements. Other than that I really love Reason 3.Lucas

A quick glance at Propellerheads.se showed me that the sequencer now shows hours:min:sec.http://www.propellerheads.se/I think this is a very good upgrade even if it still won't host Virtual Instruments. I like the fact that Reason is self-contained and is light on the CPU and focussed on doing a few things extremely well. Rewire allows it to play along with a master DAW. I feel that it is a good decision for them not to host VIs as it helps keep the system stable. The new synths and arpeggiators, etc. look very cool. It appears that the sequencer has been given a major upgrade, I never really liked using it in it's original form. I haven't upgraded because I haven't been using Reason for a while but if I was a frequent user, I'd already be there.Just my 2cents (apply your local exchange rate )Mazz

So more than 16 cents... Whichever way it was a bargain because I got info that I didn't have. I never thought about the system stability. You are right, Reason has never treated me to a system hanging up on me, and the Rewire option is there, although I have yet to figure out how to use it. Thanks for your 16 cents he he heLucas

lucas,We recently upgraded to reason 4 and really like it so far. We jumped from version 2 to 4 so some of the things he likes in the upgrade might have been in 3. Not sureMy son loves THOR ! He said he likes the Mastering Suites and that you can make Refills out of your wav's. There's a lot of free stuff online to download also. We have it Rewired into Sonar. good luck
