How come I can't get my own files on Taxi to play?

Post by hoknes » Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:47 am

Up until yesterday I could click on play and Real Player would boot up and try to play the file. Then today it said it couldnt open any of the mp3 files. So I downloaded the new Real Player today and sits there thinking and thinking trying to make contact but nothing happens. Is it just me or is there a problem with taxi today? How do I change the default player away from Real Player ?thanks

Are you using mac or pc?If its mac, then you need to set the browser to download files to the hard drive, and then control-click, choosing iTunes (or other) application to open it. HTHAnne

I'm about 50-50 with being able to play music from the taxi site. It's been this way from the beginning. When it first happened I called Taxi because I was worried that my tunes weren't properly uploaded but I was assured everything was ok. I was told to switch from real player (on a pc) to iTunes but that didn't help. For me it's random . . . somedays I can't play anything, sometimes only low-fi, etc. Sometimes it's worked fine for months. For the past several weeks it's been random again.

billg-- did you ever find out what it was? Is it still happening for you? That's really odd... I've never had a problem with playing music on the TAXI site....Raags

Never got it straight, just figured it was something funky with my online computer & gave up. The only time it really bugs me anymore is if I try to listen to someone else's stuff from the forum & can't. In my studio I have a dedicated video editing computer, a dedicated DAW and an online computer. Between the three it seems that I always have some "pulling out my hair" issue so I've learned to pick my battles with them!

My computer automatically boots up to REAL PLAYER which never seems to "connect" to Taxi to play a file - no files work me that i have uploaded. I hope they work for the taxi guys but i am not able to hear my own files at all to check the quality of playback. I do not have Itunes - anyone know how I can change the default to something else besides real player? thanks!
