If you're on a MAC, I found a really nice tool to convert audio files into mp3 (LAME). You can get a trial for 100 days!!!! So check out SNAPPER from Audioease:http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Snapper/snapper.html

thanks Raags!man, all this time it just been sitting under my nose. i had been trying different free ones and haven't been happy with them.i'm looking forward to giving the iTunes a try.thanks again!marc

Yeah, I had iTunes for two years before I realized I could make file format changes with it...

Interesting to see so many opinions and great advice.We did download itunes and with the directions by Raags were able to convert some files that don't sound too bad. I think that my son just isn't boosting/ leveling the original file enough before converting it. With R&B and Hip Hop the drums can really be an issue. They can throw your mix out of wack. They seems to either be to hot or not hot enough when converted. I think the tweaking will be in the mix, but thanks with all the MP3 advice.
