GarageBand Loops in Logic

Post by geo » Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:39 am

Hi guys, my new favorite pastime is cutting up previous performances to make loops. However when I make a loop in GarageBand I can see and use it but when I open my browser in Logic I can't find it. If I open the GarageBand project in Logic and make a loop, it sounds strange... like it detuned and is a little off time... but plays fine in GarageBand. The track is a recorded guitar track with no effects.Yes I selected loop not one shot .I assigned genre etc.Any ideas what's up with that? Thanks for stopping by... Geo

Hi geoIs there any chance that the sample rate is different for your Garage Band project stuff than what is set for Logic? That could cause it to sound out of tune along with a slight tempo change. Check your audio interface as well. Also, I have been running my updates for my imac (intel duocore) and ended up screwing myself as recently I suddenly got a message saying that my version of garageband would only work if I upgraded my version of Logic Pro from 7 to 8! Perhaps the versions are incompatible.Good Luck!Mewman

Geo - I found the same issue happens and I'm not sure why. I will see if I can help figure it out though, now that I know it isn't a quirky issue that I'm having.

Got it!!! When you start a song in GarageBand it ask you for tempo and key.... but it doesn't in Logic assigning every song the key of C unless you go into the Global tracks and change it with the pen. So when you drop in your loop made in a specific key in GrargeBand into a Logic song it transposes it to the key of C. As far as the loops appearing (they did later) I think if you make the loops in GarageBand you can't acces them in Logic with GarageBand running? Maybe.... GarageBand was acting pecular last night.... anyway Anne hope this helps.... Geo
