This one is a pair of AKG C1000 mics in X-Y pattern about three feet out from the 12th fret, into a Mackie 1604 mixer, to a Fostex analog tape recorder. Then, I put it in the computer, and used Soundforge and Ozone to tweak it.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... m=trueThis one is two large diaphragm mics (a cheap MXL, and an AKG), widely spaced. One at the 12th fret, one between the bridge and the end pin. Both of them are about 2 feet away from the guitar. Hey Paults!i like both tunes...but Contemplation is my fav in both recording and composition. I have a fondness of the C1000, as it was my 1st condenser mic.Which 'verb did you use?

Thanks! "Contemplation" has been forwarded several times, and was almost the theme music for a wellness CD. The producers had narrowed down to either it, or one other piece. They ultimately picked someone else's piece. I did that one awhile ago - I think I just added the Ozone reverb to the natural room sound, adjusting it for the tempo, etc.

It's a rock song that starts out with my Takamine 360, then builds in intensity as it goes along.As I remember, I used my Sennheiser K2-U shotgun condenser mic pointing down the neck from the tuning pegs, and either a Neumann U-87 or an AKG 414 (possibly a C1000) on the sweet spot of the guitar. Paults...i DO hope that Contemplation gets in the media...its a great lil diddy: )Hey Ern, the intro guitar on Across the Plains is really open..its one guitar? sounds like two stereo~ niceare you singing on it? i like the harmonies~and dig the funky part ...im a big fan of tears for fears..and i heard the feeling off of the hurting/and big chair on this one(esp the bass)...what reverb did you use for the vox?ahh and guys, i got my FIRST FORWARDS today(check out the forwards section to read me rant lol)peacegeoff

I have this one thing that is a drag. There is a recording I did a few months back where I was just 'futzing around'. I listen to the acoustic guitar track on it now and I'm like man... its like 'the one'. Problem is, because I was futzing, I didn't write down or take note of the setup or any of the settings. Hopefully when I get back in to the studio I'll be able to find that sound again and give you the secret rocket formula..... annnakannapunna, .... and tarentoutent ttt tttt ......ArkJack

Very cool --- Yea, I'm pretty sure I double-tracked the acoustic guitar. I recorded that quite awhile ago, on an 8-track reel-to-reel. Yup, that's me singing. I wrote it about being confused why I moved to L.A. from the Midwest --- I'm not sure about the reverb, but it's definitely a hardware unit. Probably a Roland. No, it could be a Lexicon.
