Wavelab Essentials software

Post by yammer107 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:16 pm

Hello,Quick question;Anybody know the difference between the $49 Wavelab and the $99 Wavelab? The informations not crystal clear - especially when I see words like "DJ" appear ... I'm not sure who the software is targeted too. I have no other software either, this needs to fully function alone I'm still use a "stand alone" digital recorder... for a variety of reasons. A BOSS BR1600. All I want is to make one more clean dump into some good mastering software, add some sparkle and boost the levels. But I do want something of decent quality. Thanks!

Hi Yammer,Hey I use wave lab 5. It cost me $399.00 three years ago. I use it for editing and mastering and it is awesome at making things sound great. I have not seen the full version of wavelab priced at 49.00 or 99.00 unless its the new studio version or your looking at an upgrade of somekind. These cheaper versions dont have all the editing tools and plugins like the full version. I know there is a wavelab 6 now for about $549.00 I have not upgraded yet. For editing and mastering look for wavelab 6. Hope this helps.Brian

Thanks Brian, Not so much for the advice - But thank you for not breaking down my post quote-by-quote, soley for the purpose of ripping on my every comment, quote-by-quote........I've only been a member for about a week, and experienced this about three times now. I dont see where my comments have been anything more than friendly chime in's - just like many others in the very same threads. Thanks Again !

Hey Yammer, I looked in a catalog and found the $49 version, but it is just an editor with CD burning (WavelabEss). I don't see anything between that and the $549 mastering package listed. But since WaveLabEss retails for $149 maybe you are just seeing different prices for the same package. That would be my guess.

Hi Yammer,I have a set up just like yours, BR1600 is the main part of my rig. I got the $99 WaveLab Essentials last month and have been working with it to edit my final wave mixes from the BR. It is a very useful and pretty friendly program, and integrated well with what we do with our Boss files. Most of the stuff I do in the program is clean-up work, but it certainly has the power for spectral EQ analysis of individual tracks so that you can visualize eq settings in the boss unit for the final mixdowns. It also has its compatible VSTs for further effects processing and mastering. The other thing is audio edits for cuts, cross fades, remix, and blending. Or for example, taking a 5 minute song track and editing 30 60 and 1:30 shorts for a submission. I find the tools available in this lite version are pretty compatible with my level of knowledge and availability of time to mess with it.ArkJack
