Re: New Computer
Quote:MSI nVidia GeForce 8400GS 256MB DDR2 PCI Express (1xDVI 1xVGA) Forgive my tech-stupidity - is this a sound AND video card? I've been told the sound card is the most critical (and subsequently most expensive) component. I checked out their site, and this card is available on even their lower end machines.

Re: New Computer
Marc,I hope you're gonna use it for line-in recordings. Otherwise, hum will be your pain in the ass. I work on custom Pentium 4 3.0 GHz I bought 2 years ago. I upgraded fan cooler on the clock, but it's still makes my wife freaking out late at nite - she's sleeps with our son in another room (!). I've noticed no one mentioned about this issue. So, if you gonna use large-condenser mike, think twice. I'd go for decent laptop with Core 2 clock and at least 1Gb RAM. Good luck, dyak

Re: New Computer
ephlat66, that is just the video card, i use a presonus firebox as my sound card.dyak, i guess i won't know for sure until i get it, but, i did research custom audio computers and basically just copied the set-up.i do mostly in-line recording except for vocals, i did get their silent design case in hopes that noise wouldn't be an issue. that would suck!

Re: New Computer
I received my new computer last night and am happy to say that it freakin' rocks!Dyak, this is the quietest machine i've ever owned, it's the closest thing to silent i've ever heard (or not heard), i had to double check to make sure that it was actually on.i would highly recommend it to anyone.peace
