i was just in the market for a new workstation as well and found this desk at staples for $89.it has a lot of real estate, i didn't have the room for it, if you do have the space it would be great.http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/store ... rea=SEARCH

Quote:"that's coming from someone who sits on the floor when using the computer" This looks like it is more common than I thought. I thought I was the only one...OMG, Anne-- I was SURE I was the ONLY one! Honestly! So, are you a regular floor-sitter, or are you just waiting for your chairs to arrive for the new studio you built? (That doesn't count!!) Hmmm... Maybe we should start a floor-sitting club here...? No chairs allowed. Bring Your Own Pillow. LOL!! Raags

Target has inexpensive office furniture too, and of course so does IKEA. FWIW...I've never had "official music workstation" furniture.

Hi Ted, Sit down and decide what you need for space and custom build your own set up!!! You will save a bundle and get exactly what you need. Make sure you leave the back or side of your set up open so you can have easy access to your cables. Press board is smooth, cheap, easy to put together with those angled metal pieces you can get at the hardware store, and you can paint it the color of your room so it blends in! If you don't have any carpentry skills, call in a favor from a friend who knows how to work a saw and a screwdriver.

You guys, this is amazing. Thank you so much for all your input. When I turned the computer off last night, this didn't have a single reply. Wow.OK, now, one thing you guys need to realize is that I live in a teeny, tiny, little isolated mountain town of about 4,000 people. There's only ONE road into this town and one road OUT. WalM**t is the biggest store in town, and all the tourists tell me this is the smallest WalM**t they've ever seen.Mazz, I was there (the world's smallest WalM**t) just a couple of days ago, specifically looking for short filing cabinets I could place a door across the top of, and there's no such thing. I'm two hours from the nearest Sam's Club and three hours from the nearest STAPLES or OFFICE DEPOT or HOME DEPOT or any of the mega-chain-stores that (most of) the rest of you are a 15-minute drive from. (sorry for the soap-box moment there...)But your VERY BEST, MOST BRILLIANT suggestion is to spend the money on the chair, not the space itself. (Hell, I can use cinder blocks and abandoned furniture that I can break into pieces to cover my chincey shelving needs.)You, John, are a genius.Thank you for saving me $300. (oh, WAIT! But that "good" chair is going to cost me way more than that. You thieving bastard!! Are you working for a chair company?!?!?! HUH??? )
