midi controllers

I have m-audio powered pro tools 7.3.1...an oxygen midi controller and East West gold edition orchestral samples....the only midi controller that appears to impact the midi track is CC#11 (expression) yet it seems to act more like a volume controller. Cannot seem to get other CC controllers like breath control or portamento to do anything....anyone out there work with similar equipment that can clue me in on how to program the midi controller so that the various CC controllers work on the midi tracks?Any help will be appreciated.Billy Kidd
