question re EWQL & memory
More than once now, I've gotten the message that an instrument can be loaded but memory is getting low and that may cause artifacts, etc..... and a couple of times, I've gotten the message that there isn't enough memory to load that instrument at all. Usually it's when I've got a piano plus a big string section or something.... but a couple of days ago, in a brand new edit, with no other instruments, I was loading the piano from Gold & got the message that memory was running low.I'm confused because I've got 80 gigs on my C drive (programs), 160 gigs on my E drive (samples), and 300 gigs on my F drive (where I save my work) & have lots of memory left on each drive. I have 2 GB of ram as well.I'm taking my computer in for service this Monday because its been restarting without warning & there's some kind of error with the C drive. (I'm going to get them to increase the ram to 4 GB, too. ) So I'm wondering, is there some adjustment they need to make so I don't get these "not enough memory" messages in EWQL? Do they need to increase the buffer size or something?thanks for your helpHummin'bird

When the Gold Kompakt instrument is open, you'll see an "options" button/dropdown menu in the upper left, the same section where you load your instruments. Selected "DFD" from that "options" button. By default, it's set to "expert" but I've had problems with that. I've had good luck with "small instruments". Select that and then click "apply". You'll have to close out of everything and then start back up. You can also select some of the other presets to experiment.I haven't messed with it enough to know what all the parameters are (like reserved voices, etc) or what their values really mean.

Re: question re EWQL & memory
I stopped having these issues when I went to Kontakt but for the Kontakt Player, its crucial to have the latest version of the DFD portion of the software. If soundsonline.com doesn't have it for download (they should) then www.nativeinstruments.com will for sure.Good luck! Listen to Dave!!Mazz

Thanks to both of you!!! Mazz, I went to NI & got the link to download the DFD from EWQL, and now I am able to do what Dave suggested!! Cool!
