Logic Pro 8 loop error
<edit> @ 04/01/08 - see last post - issue was with articulation</edit>Hi,I've recently installed LP8 and am experiencing problems Despite a completely 'default' installation, I had to re-install since certain plug-ins went missing (Hybrid Morph / Bass etc..) This has been a very common problem it seems.....Now I've sorted that out something else has come up..... When I preview (instrument) orchestral/EXS loops (for example "Longing F Oboe"), they sound as they should, however when dragging them into arrange, they don't load the correct presets in the channel strip and therefore sound awful/lose any character the sound had. I can see "channel EQ" and the inserts but they are greyed out and certainly not working! I've seen other people on the net with exactly the same problem but no answers.....If anyone can shed any light on this, that'd be great. Thanks.

Re: Logic Pro 8 loop error
You have said a couple of things that have me confused so I will start here. First the EXS is a the sampler in the program and does not play the loops that are provided. The loops are either audio or midi loops and the one you mentioned is an audio loop. It already has processing in the recording so my first question would be what kind of track are you putting the loop on? If you put it on an audio track, can you add any effects to the track? Let me know if you have any progress. K

Re: Logic Pro 8 loop error
Hi Kouly,Thanks a lot for your reply. The "Longing F Oboe" is a software instrument / midi loop on my screen?! I have dragged it into arrange at the bottom/into an empty space (completely new project etc..) so the whole track creates itself and tried dragging it onto a new software instrument track too. Both give a completely dry result. It would sound correct when dragging onto an audio track but then obviously isn't "midi" editable.I've noticed it in particular with midi orchestral loops. I've just randomly picked "House warm fuzzy pad 01" in the electronic midi loop section and it loads the channel strip correctly. Another thing I've noticed with the above oboe loop is that it loads 2 inserts but they are on "bypass" - I've taken them off bypass so the insert slots turn blue/are active but the sound is still not how it should be. Dragging any loop into arrange - into a blank space should surely sound exactly as it does in preview. I wanted to save a few channel strip settings to get the same effect rather than use the exact loop notes.Hope you also see the above loop as a midi loop otherwise something has gone horribly wrong here in the upgrade and/or my sanity is in question!! Thanks again and Happy New Year!Best wishes,Rachel

Re: Logic Pro 8 loop error
Just wanted to say re: orchestral loops sounding different in preview to arrange. After some confusion and investigation - it seems that some orchestral midi loops with articulation do not contain articulation data within the midi loop info itself. As one example "Longing B Violins 1" in preview plays pizzicato but when dragged in to arrange plays the regular string patch (I mean playing back the exact loop). You'd have thought that the loop itself should contain this info but you'd have to add it manually if you want the pizzicato.

Re: Logic Pro 8 loop error
I had noticed this with several other loops as well and was trying to figure it out. Thanks for this post regarding this problem as I was a bit perplexed about it.
