And that right there is a good argument for Windows: you can custom-build a machine to do exactly what you need, and you know your way around it. I've had excellent luck with my VisionDAW machine, if you're looking for a specialist.But even though the VD is about as quiet as a computer can get, there's no substitute for a machine room or closet - with the disclaimer that I'm hypersensitive to noise and really hate it more than most people do.
