Indian forward and returns...

Post by davewalton » Wed Sep 10, 2008 6:10 am

I had a mixed bag. I'm not sure this is particularly instructive musically speaking as it's not obvious in a big way why one was forwarded while the others were returned. I think it is instructive on how subtle the differences between "forward" and "return" can be. Also, notice I'm not ranting and pitching a fit and all that. I CAN do better and write more authentic Indian music... so that's what I'm going to work on doing (on my own and hopefully with another Raags co-write as well as maybe some others too). The forwarded track:www.DaveWaltonMusic.com/MyMusic/LandOfM ... p3Comments were along the line that it was still a "hybrid" but that it developed quickly enough with enough Indian elements to warrant a forward. So, not a "strong" forward but I'll take it. The Returns:www.DaveWaltonMusic.com/MyMusic/Meditat ... iya.mp3The screener comments on "Meditation" were basically that there wasn't enough going on to sustain interest, not enough "activity". The Raags/Dave co-write "O Re Piya" comments were along the line of it sounding too "western" and not enough "local" Indian. It's a journey and a process...Dave

Hey Dave!Congratulations on the one that made it through! Sounds good ta' me! Come on dude, a little rantin' and fit pitchin' never hurt anyone. Kinda' goes along with the "return" territory. Just kiddin'. Good job! Keep 'em comin' Dave! I always enjoy the listen!I-468

Isnt it amazing? The ones you are sure about get returned, and the ones that you think are lukewarm are the ones that get forwarded. Anyhoo, congrats. Western or no I love that Ore pi ya

Congrats on the forward. It is very subtle on what will get forwarded, and what will get returned. I am a fan of the second track. Nice tunes.
