As already noted, the Nov. issue of Recording is completely dedicated to recording guitars. Page 32 has the info you are looking for. Let us know what ends up working for you.

Re: Micing a resophonic guitar
Ok guys, after getting advice from you (and a free moment in my lunch break) I put together a little track using my resophonic guitar. It's not mozart but I'd quite like some input on what you think of the sound.Have I captured it well in this recording? The link is here. http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueIf it doesn't work you can download it from my taxi website:http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?artist=53mphI used ernsteins suggestion of a shot-mic down the neck and a dynamic one infront of the sound hole. My room is not well adapted to recording at a 3ft distance from the guitar. Too much room noise.

Re: Micing a resophonic guitar
53mph, that's some fine picking! I think it sounds very good. You recorded this in stereo, correct? My guess is the shotgun mic is left and the dynamic one is right. If so, my only comment is that on the louder parts the close mic sounds a little bright. I'm not familiar with the resophonic guitar, but maybe move the mic an inch or two up towards the neck? Or if the mic has a presence peak like a Shure SM-57, use a flatter mic. OR, since this is such a good take, just EQ that track a little bit. That's the simplest answer!Great work!Ern
