midi conversion from cubase to sonar?
Hi. I've recently uncoverd some old tracks that I recorded on Cubase VST/24 ! A dinosaur I guess. I didn't feel the need back then to save things as midi files. Anyway, I now use Sonar PE6. Is there a software program out there that anyone knows of, that would allow me to convert cubase arrangement and/or song files to Sonar project files? I no longer have the computer that cubase was installed on, and it won't install/ run under winXP. I have bunch of the midi files and audio tracks, but i'mm looking to re-mix and update some of the older songs to try and get some mileage out of them. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.charlie

I'd suggest to try to open your old vst/24 projects with cubase SX (import > cubase songs) - not sure if that works, though. maybe you need a step in between so the chain would look like this: vst/24 - cubase 5 - cubase SX.once you have it in cubase sx you can save the whole project as omf file, that is compatible with a couple of diffrent daw's. I saw this once but never worked like that by myself.another solution would be to get an old vst/24 copy (maybe from the museum.. ), open your projects and save everything as single tracks (midifiles & bounced audiofiles, all starting at the same point).just some spontaneous thoughts.cheers, martin

Do you know anybody who's running an older OS? Maybe someone with an old lappy or an elderly person running Window 95? Or what about old computer's that are laying around in the closet. Someone you know probably has something that they haven't touched in years. Ask around.Zink
