Digi 003 comments?

Post by wheelingwv » Wed Jul 04, 2007 9:22 am

If there are any new Digi 003 users out there, how would you rate your experiences with it so far?1. A quantum leap forward from 002.2. OK but maybe not worth the expense/hassle of upgrading at this point3. Fraught with glitches & annoyances4. OtherPlease specify Rack or Factory. What computer(s) are you using? Does it seem happy with Macbooks (not Macbook Pro)? Thanks!

It's a really nice interface. The control surface has some pretty big feature enhancements in terms of control, but audio quality is only incrementally better. If you already have a Digi 002 I'd hold tight. The extra money you'd spend on upgrading would probably be better spent on a nice mic, preamp, plug-in or even an 002 electronics upgrade from Black Lion Audio.Cheers,Justin

I got the rack 003. I bought it along with an iMac . It seems fine for me, of course my last version of PT was like 8 years ago. It took way longer for me to lean the Mac than anything else. I had a Digi 001 to start. It was great. The new M-powered stuff is like the 001. No glitches yet.... wait... it did lose a couple of guitar tracks. But no crashes or anything.

I haven't checked out the 003, but the power supply in my Digi 002 went bad --- TWICE! On the plus side, Digidesign replaced it for free, even the second time after it was out of warranty. That says a lot for their customer service, IMHO!Ern
