Favorite free plugins

I know, a lot of free plugins are just the same old thing with a different interface and you get what you pay for. But what are your personal favorites if you use them?...and tell us why if you have the time.

I haven't used it much but it's got a very amusing interface: Delay Lamahttp://www.kvraudio.com/get/226.htmlEnjoy

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Synth1 - very well-rounded virtual analog synthesizerMDSP Compressor - smooth, tight compressor with good overdrive characteristicsMDA & Classic effects series - collections of various FX, from EQ to verb, delay, vocoding etc... very useful

I like the Classic Series from Kjaerhus Audio and Dasample Glaceverb--altho the 'verb is very greedy. They sound good to me, and the price is right!

Yes, the Classic Series. I've gone to those in a pinch sometimes and the results were good. For free stuff it's hard to beat those. Since I got my UAD card I've leaned hard into what it has to offer but free stuff sometimes has that little difference that you may be looking for. I like the Synth 1 too, amazingly I got just the right flute sound I needed once, and if you are looking for a synth that is a little deeper and different then check out Crystal. I go to KVR and if something looks interesting I download it and try it out. I wish I had the savvy to really program a synth because there is a lot out there in free land if you know how to get the sounds happening. The SIR reverb is quite good too.
