Hey, I'm just curious as to what everyones personal opinions are regarding USB microphones. I've been working on this album, and finally have everything done except for the vocals. I was worried, because i've never recorded vocals from a home studio before, so rather than mess around with mic pre-amps and what not (since i really don't know what I'm doing yet concerning vocal recording), I figured I'd get myself one of these usb condenser microphones I've been hearing about. Anyway, if anyone has any experience with these, particularly the MXL USB.006, let me know, as I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to waste $150 on a piece of crap microphone. toodles

Re: USB microphones
My girlfriend (also my vocalist!) uses a Samson CO1U USB mic. She got it in a bundle that included a shockmount as well as a windscreen. It sounds fantastic. It doesn't sound too great if you drive it too hard.. doesn't really "saturate" well like some other mics I have used, but that is uncommon and with proper level adjustment before recording that can be avoided entirely. Two other people I know own the same mic and love it.
