fewer listings for songwriters?
Is it just me or do the number of listings nowadays for songwriters looking to place a song with a major artist/label seem to be dwindling all the time? It seems more and more it's all library/tv stuff which is cool if you are into that, but across the board in all genres the pickins' are pretty slim for purely songwiters.Do you think it's because the majors are not getting what they are looking for so they are not listing as much?Anyone had any luck getting any songs forwarded for big artists? signed?I fully realze as great as taxi is for us all we need to be on the hunt for other opps for our music. Just seemed like awhile back there were alot of listings looking for songs for their own artists. comments?

I've been a member less than a year, but I suspect you are correct. The success stories I read seem to tilt toward library type of material. It would be interesting to know what percentage of single songs forwarded by Taxi, no matter what the genre, have actually ever been cut; not to mention if any of them actually made the Billboard charts.Ott Lukk

I think there may be less opportunities in general for that. TAXI offers what they are asked for...with dwindling record sales and dwindling profits, I think there probably is also a dwindling demand for outside songwriters.

good piece of wisdom mark. thanks. it's kind of a drag for me cause I've decided thats what I really want to focus on is placing songs with other artists.I've written tons of library trax and had lots of forwards but only a few deals. oh well , guess I have to up the ante and work even harder at it

Scotty, Also, in pop and country...that is just the trend. Publishers are searching more and more for artists who can write that they can sign to cheap "writers" deal and just make the investment in their pretty face while developing their writing and performing skills. So I think the listings just reflect the industry changes.Andy

I agree, we can't focus on the gloom. And you're right, our only way of survival is to out write those singer/songwriters AND the staff writers who already have deals...because all those songs are being pushed like crazy because the investment has already been made into those writers and their songs. So we have to write HITS (like we've never heard that one before lol)Andy

I don't know about you but I've been listening to some stuff I wrote a couple of years ago compared to lately and because of the critiques/ and or forum tips my stuff is getting closer all the time to " marketable" so Iam more pumped than ever about doing this all the wayscott

The more we talk about it here the less time we are spending writing those "hits".I firmly believe we all have the talent and knowledge. We nee to focus on co-writing and expanding our horizons and abilities. TAXI can get us in the ballpark but we have to be getting in the game.I got my gameface on how bout yall?
