"... there is still a very strong subculture of people who want to do great things on an instrument, and who are stimulated by hearing people who can. That's reassuring. But it's gonna take a person - and I don't know who this is - to come along and reinvent the guitar as a virtuosic instrument in a completely different realm than any of us have done, or anybody else in the past. That's the clincher. Maybe that will happen and maybe it won't ..."~ Steve Vai

So Drew, we want your own wisdom here...You are highly respected and your knowledge and experience are obvious to everyone.I don't mean to put you on the hot-seat here, well... scratch that... I'm asking for a thoughtful, genuine quote from you... And you can't say "Hookstown sucks"...Gottcha Bud...

I love it when someone asks for my opinions: The more knowledge and experience you have the more screwups and blunders you have to tell stories about.~ Drew

Always stand next to the rookie singer on stage, be ready to bail them out when they completely lose their key/lyrics/timing/nerve... whatever.~ Drew

One day some sort of calamity will happen on stage, this will be remembered by all who witness it. If handled well, this will earn you more fans than your highlights will.~ Drew

Oh, that one could be a thread of its own...Stage mishaps...As I finished playing through the rhythm part in this song, going into the guitar solo... I cranked the volume, tromped on my trusty EH Small Stone and...Dead air happened...Stomped again and again... Nothing... It was dead. So I grabbed the mic and sang the lead, mimicking the sound of the guitar... That incident supplied joke fodder in the practice room for 3 months or so... But we sold lots of tapes that night... I was vindicated and licked my wounds with pride...

I would have liked to have seen that one. Maybe one day you can do your guitar-lead singing for us.

If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.~ Albert EinsteinI find that Albert and I agree on a lot of stuff.
