Re: Musicians Duet Better
Ain't it a shame that these icons feel the way they do?They echo my thoughts, though... That's the real shame considering I'm someone who has not climbed the proverbial ladder.Within this corporate-driven, ice-cold musical atmosphere; one that sometimes, seems to fester like an oozing sore, lots of very talented people will become so very disenchanted with the business, that they will turn to other fields... I've seen it happen. The music world would be so much better off if the majority of the MBA's would look elsewhere for work...No offense, Michael... Yourself not included... While I'm on the subject, though, I'm curious... How do you feel about the overall disenchantment within the music biz?

Quote:Jimi was right when she said we are being spoon-fed what they want us to consume. My thoughts, too. The road to success can be so challenging that even those with high-end talent can eventually reach the point where the ugly -- business aspect -- ain't worth the effort. And the music fans suffer... Discouraging ain't the word... Heartbreaking is more like it...I hope Jimi doesn't read this one... She's in the middle of the soup right now... The make or break-point...Don't let 'em getcha down, Jimi...

"To an audience member, whether in ancient Greece or in the modern world, music has a direct line to the soul in a way that most liberal art forms cannot achieve. So while the spoken word may describe an emotion, the music played while those words are spoken may more effectively enable an audience member to identify with that emotion and sympathize with the character who is experiencing it onstage."~ Fred Plotkin"The function of the creative artist consists of making laws, not following laws already made."~ Ferruccio Busoni"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity."~ Albert EinsteinMusic is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." ~ Charlie ParkerH

I completely believe that the realization or your art is the way to go.Whenever I've tried to be "commercial", I failed. Whenever I've been "unique", I've succeded.ALL of my artistic $$$$ has come from "abstract music".So there ya go!!!!!Ern
