Every man’s work, whether it be literature or music or pictures or architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself.~ Samuel Butler (1612-80) English poet, author Oh man, I've written some really ugly stuff.

The quote;"Nothing is capable of being well set to music that is not nonsense"~ Joseph Addison (1672-1719), English essayist, poet, statesmanIs difficult to understand if analyzed grammatically because of all the negatives and its somewhat surprising that a man of letters would produce such a confusing babble.Let's look at it more closely by changing the words.Everything is capable of being set to music that is nonsense. In that case, he was precisely talking about Trout Mask Replica. You call yourselves lyricists but I'm the only one who noticed it.

A clear cut case of "Musician heal thyself!!" methinks! Btw, when are you gonna post some links to more of those cool theory articles you have a knack of finding? Here's a link you might find interesting:http://www.furious.com/perfect/iloubot.htmlIt's not an article as such. Just a little creative writing. It helps if you're even slightly familiar with Lou Reed's 'Metal Machine Music' album.

Great quote Drew. Oscar was my main man! Here's a lovely little story about him:He was talking to one of his socialite friends who rattled off a really clever one-liner. 'Oh', said Wilde jealously, 'I wish I'd said that'. 'Don't worry Oscar', said his pal, 'I'm sure you will!'.

Yeah, Mani, here's a few of my favs by Oscar:A little sincerity is a dangerous thing, and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability. The man was a genius. My main man is Mark Twain.
