Re: Interesting Chris Wallin Post
Thanks for postin Cam... very interesting idea but at first I thought I was missing something because it seemed like the jig was up within the first 2 pages of postings... then I got the feeling that many posts had been deleted and saw that someone confirmed this above. I would've liked to have seen it in all it's glory.I guess that is a lesson learned on "expert" opinions.

Re: Interesting Chris Wallin Post
I don't think any of the posts were removed from that thread at all. After I finished reading the whole thing, I almost stopped reviewing anyone else's stuff. The thing I loved about the whole mess of emotions above all else, is that it reminded me that nobody else's opinion is more important than my own. Wallin is pretty humble as far as I can tell. But personally, I don't really need to like someone's humility to like their craft, or to do business with them. One of his main points is that the song, Don't Blink," isn't a killer lyric. It was just the right song for Kenny Chesney at the right time.

Steve,"The thing I loved about the whole mess of emotions above all else, is that it reminded me that nobody else's opinion is more important than my own."I believe you raise an important point, which I personally believe holds some merit. At the end of the day, it is the songwriter that must live with the song they wrote. Love it, embrace it, share it, or cast it off into the trash and hope the garbage man is busy that day.The flip side of your comment “nobody else's opinion is more important than my own” is seen when a songwriter has too critical of an opinion of their work.I remember hearing Stevie Wonder talk about his song "I Just Called To Say I Love You" in an interview many years ago. During the interview he mentioned how after writing the song he opted not to use it because he did not believe it was a very good song. Stevie, the hit songwriter lacked a balanced opinion of his creation. Over time, others eventually pushed him into using the song. The song ended up becoming #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, and earned him a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. Here's a guy who already had written many hits, but was unable to recognize the potential of one of the most enduring and beloved songs of all time. If a songwriter of his caliber had a difficult time recognizing a song worthy of hit and major award status, where does that leave the rest of us--the rest of us being all songwriters and industry pros faced with giving a thumbs up or down on a song.GB
