Re: Smiley faces, Pro or Con?
The smilies remind me of Wallmart. I've used them a couple of times here because I wanted someone to understand the light nature of my comments. Shortly after I felt the urge to run to Wallmart and buy something. I think the smilies are some kind of hypnotic Wallmart conspiracy. Pretty soon they will rule the world (Wallmart, not the smilies) SEE THERE! I DIDN'T DO THAT, IT JUST POPPED UP OUT OF NOWHERE! IT'S CRAZY, CRAZY I TELL YA!

Without an emoticon, you might well take offense to the first statement. You still might in the second statement but it would (or should) be clear that I'm kidding and in reality I think just the opposite of you. For me at least, I rarely post a "just the facts ma'am" type of post. Without the emoticons to say when I'm kidding or having a bit of fun... I'd likely be in a LOT of trouble!

Gave up guilt when I left the ol' school girl uniform behind. You know, cute little skirts and knee socks, nuns and rulers and all that.

I really like you. You're so great. You're not fat at all. I have no problem with what you're telling me. We should speak our minds. See? Emoticons make everything clear! ...oh, and I'm not flirting, but you're pretty hot.
